DIY Home Lawn Sprinkler System – Is it Really Possible to Install One Yourself?

Sprinkler systems can add a great deal of pleasure and enjoyment to your lawn and garden. In fact, when well-installed, they can even improve the value of your home! But it can be difficult to know where to begin when you are searching for the best sprinkler system for your lawn and garden needs, especially if you’re new to landscaping.

Your home sprinkler system will depend on one thing: the type of materials used and how it’s installed. The most common material is PVC pipe, although metal piping and copper tubing are also used. The average price of a residential lawn sprinkler system installation will range anywhere from $2, 900 to $3,500, based on the area of the lawn, materials used and the business that installed it. Doing the work yourself usually costs less than buying the needed parts and performing the labour yourself, so that is another savings that you may be able to take advantage of. That being said, here are some considerations to keep in mind before you start shopping around for your new lawn sprinkler system:

– PVC Pipe. This is the most common type of material used in a sprinkler system. It’s inexpensive and is typically made out of either polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or polyvinyl chloride-ene-chlorohydrate (PVCE). Both types have good insulating properties, and PVC pipes come in a variety of different colours. They’re also resistant to freezing, making them a good choice for areas that aren’t too far outside your home or are exposed to extremes of temperature.

– PVCU. PVCU stands for vinyl underlayment, and is a synthetic version of natural PVC pipe. Like PVC pipe, it is thermally broken and can support very heavy pressure. Unfortunately, though, it is also very prone to leaking, so it’s not a very good choice for an irrigation system that will be installed underground.

– Main Water Line. If you’re installing a new irrigation system, you will need to know the exact length of the main water line that feeds your sprinkler head. You will also need to know the diameter of the head. If you don’t have the right information, you could end up wasting a lot of time and money by running your sprinkler system incorrectly.

– Nancy Foreman Notes. A couple of friends of mine were installing a new vinyl pipe irrigation system over the internet. While they were installing the actual components, one of them asked me about some Nancy Foreman notes she had written about the PVCU pipes. After explaining a bit about the PVCU control box, I went back into her website and read through the entire thing.

I learned that one PVCU pipe can support the weight of 1500 pounds, so don’t be too quick to install one. Also, make sure that your home lawn sprinkler system is designed for use with PVCU pipes, otherwise you won’t have much luck trying to push a long hose into it. The PVCU design was developed primarily for irrigation on commercial properties, so if you want your home lawn sprinkler system to have the best chances of working effectively, use the same material. It makes sense to do some research before you try anything, especially if it sounds like it’s beyond your level of experience.

Installing a good DIY home lawn sprinkler system isn’t too hard, but it’s better to have a professional install it for you. They know what they’re doing, and they use high-end equipment that has been designed specifically for this type of irrigation system. This way, there will be no clogs or breakdowns while the water is being distributed. There’s nothing worse than having to haul huge lengths of PVCU pipes around your property when you need to water. The other advantage of calling someone to install your irrigation system is that they can often perform the installation for a fee, saving you even more money in the long run.
